I am stunned when I read stuff like this...
I absolutely do not believe that black people are eating dead bodies in New Orleans after a mere four days without food. I mean, with all that water around, who could get a good BBQ grill going?
I thank God that Baldilocks has a great sense of humor and can see through this. If you want to read the comments...click on the link on Baldilocks page...I won't do it justice with a link here.
Just a bit more on this...I have grown sickened by reports of rapes, murders, looting...people taking advantage of a dire situation. I cannot believe this is my country. Is this the same country that came together so united on 9/11? Is this the same country that helped to free millions of people around the world in the last 4 years? I watch news reports of people scrambling and belly-aching about getting out of the Superdome...'Where's the buses??' WALK! You ever hear of walking?? Get the hell out of there...find a phone...and call a relative for help!
I know for sure...I would not be camped out on an overpass waiting for someone to get me...especially if I am stranded in the USA (different story if I was needing to get out of Chiner in a hurry...I'm looking for the Marines and hanging with them!!).
This has nothing to do with race...it has everything to do with being an American. And, as an American living a long ways away...I am embarassed by the conduct of my fellow citizens. Pull up your boot straps...quite your whining...and start re-building your lives.
UPDATE: Glenn has pictures and this little tidbit about trying to bus people out of New Orleans, before the hurricane struck.
New Orleans authorities had plenty of unused buses had they chosen to take people out of the city rather than coop them up in the Superdome or the Convention Center.
