Just got an email from Stevo...
Met with Dr. on Wednesday, cool guy very unassuming and quiet. Went over her treatment history and he was going to view all her scan films and come up with the treatment plan, we see him again today, She will have blood taken and CS fluid from her spine, he thought that it is likely that the bad cells which were in the brain fluid have likely been killed off by the chemo she had in Singapore, hopefully this is the case.
With her particular cancer type we have several chemo options and also he has been trialing a method of giving radiation to the tumor which does not hurt anything else, something about attaching radiated antibodies to the tumor, totally over my head but sounds exciting.
We talked about the stem cell harvest and again he said this is a simple procedure, she would be asleep for a short time while they insert a line into a good vein, then it's just a case of blood coming out which goes thru some kind of machine which takes out what they need then goes back in again, he said it's more of a boring time for the patient as they can only sit there while it all goes on.
He indicated that for the most part the chemo infusions are done with the patient being a day case so if all's okay no need to be hospitalized for the duration.
As the Girly-Man told us a long time ago...prayer works. Very postiive news so far...
