Air Canada; Bad Service/Decisions

I haven't flown Air Canada in years after a really bad bout of customer service (story below).  But, now this solidifies my feeling...

Being a member of a terrorist organization won’t necessarily land someone on Canada’s no-fly list, The Canadian Press has learned…

“You cannot be put on the list on the sole basis that you’re a member of a ‘terrorist group,’” the source said. “In addition, you have to be a demonstrable threat to aviation safety.”

Wazzat??  Can you just see the source when they are telling the reporter this with their two fingers twitching in the air for the quotes around...'terrorist group.'

My story on Air Canada revolves around a business trip I took about 5 years ago.  I had always flown AC to Hong Kong...it was a pretty direct route and the planes were nice, etc.  My last flight (business class) consisted of a seat that would not recline, would not power my laptop, would not play music, would not play movies.  Then, when they passed around DVD players for everyone, the one they gave me was broken.  I searched for the dark cloud above my head...nothing.

At the end of the flight, the steward came around and took a copy of my name, passport number, address, ticket info, and frequent flyer info.  I was given a reciept and told I was going to receive either a free flight within Canada or, I would be credited with a load of miles.

Nothing happened for a couple months, so I got that reciept out, only to find that the only contact information was a fax number.  I typed up my letter and faxed it off.  Nothing.  Another couple months...I tried again...this time leaving a phone number and email address in which to contact me.  Nothing.  I tried one last time, about 18 months after the flight...again, nothing.

So, I say to Air Canada...thanks for nothing.  And, thanks for letting us know you will allow murdering thugs on board your planes...I don't think United, Delta, Cathay or Singapore Airlines do that.
