Not again...
Thailand's military and police leaders said they had seized power in a coup overnight without meeting any resistance and announced the ouster of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
The Thai Political Reform Council said it was in control of the Southeast Asian nation of 65 million and declared allegiance to King Bhumibol Adulyadej, according to statements read on state television. Army Chief Sondhi Boonyarataklin temporarily assumed the duties of prime minister.
This coup is far reaching to even those of us in Chiner. My satellite reception of CNN and Star Sports has been cut off as a result of the media blackout in Bangkok. Yes, my housing complex steals TV from other countries.
On the political front...although nobody really likes Thaksin...this is no way to conduct a government in a country the repudiates itself as a democratic monarchy. I hope the people switch their happiness of being rid of Thaksin to that of anger at the army for staging such outdated methods of political change.
