Converted!!
I have seen the light! I have emerged from the darkness and seen the truth!
I tried to download the latest IE7 on the kids machine and it just wouldn't work. It would lock the computer up and there would be no response...nothing. I had to uninstall and reinstall...same result But, there were some features of the IE7 I liked...like tabs...like the simple design...the integration of feeds.
Recently, I'd noticed a couple blogs with the Firefox badge on their site. It's been there and I have not really thought about it. You know...when you own that 1987 Escort and it just runs and runs, you really don't know what you are missing with the new Focus...right? I figured, what they heck, lets give it a shot.
Simple. Fast. Clean. When you click the icon, it opens...no thinking. It is what web-browsing should be.
There are some really cool add-ons for the browser as well. One of them is a very simple music control that uses WMP...but runs it in the background. Again, no issues with response. The other is a really cool weather bar, that gives me updated weather information for GZ!
I had Tai-Tai take a test run with it and she even liked it...so I've put it on our machine too. I've heard of people that just dump IE in favor of Firefox. I'm not quite there yet...I need to experiment and explore more. But, after one day, I can say that I am slowly emerging from the MS darkness and the light of day is wonderful.
Welcome to the lighter side of the web browsing world. :)
I converted a matter of months ago on the Mac. There's just so much that you can do, depending on how in depth and geeky you want to get. The "about:config" area can let you tweak a lot of the application itself. In my IT support days, it the only browser I used in a PC world. Now that it has inline spell checking built in, I'm very happy with it.

My friends have been trying to convert me for ages. But, I've always put it off like I do everything else. My Internet Explorer just updated itself this morning (or this afternoon....ahem....lazy) and it seems to oddly resemble Firefox....hmm. So, I shall try it out for a while, see how it is. I don't know if I'm ready to take the Firefox plunge yet. PS.........Can't wait to get home!!!!

Glad you've seen the light, Expat. The joy of tabbed browsing is a great thing to behold...
A year later, it still makes me happy. :)

I am reminded of James Brown in the Blues Brothers...'DO YOU SEE THE LIGHT?!!!'
John - although I am not a tech-geek person, I do like some of the capabilities I've seen. If you have suggestions for simple use, without too incredibly involved...shoot them over.
FlyRice - you too will SEE THE LIGHT when you get here. I've hung on to the installation file and we'll load this bad-boy on to your laptop when you get here...
Alanah - Now that I am experiencing the joy of tabbed browsing...when can I expect to experience the joy of winning hockey???

If you want to experience the "joy of winning hockey" on any regular basis, I must ask you: How the hell did you become a Canucks fan???

How the hell did you become a Canucks fan???
1. Cam Neely. Former Portland Winterhawk was a number one pick of the Canucks. They tried to turn him into a goon...then traded him. The rest is history...so to speak.
2. 1994. The greatest Stanley Cup Final series...ever. Been waiting ever since.
3. I'm from the NW...who am I supposed to cheer for?? The Sharks? Puuuuuleeeeeeaze. Teal and me don't mix.
