Back home...but not settled
Returned to GZ on Thursday evening and spent most of Friday just trying to recover. I've got stacks of expense reports to do from my trip and to add to the suffering, my boss from the USA decided to reschedule a visit to...Monday. No rest for the weary.
The trip to Oregon was sort of the usual...meetings and more meetings. A couple dinners out with my Mom, sister and in-laws, plus a couple of Duck games, live, on TV. That was a plus.
As part of the whole trip, I planned a bit of a side journey to Vancouver BC to see those Canucks. It was an expensive venture with airfare, hotel and tickets...but I think it was worth it (despite the boyz continuing to lose). There is something about the atmosphere of being at the game that just gets the blood churning. Add to that, the ability to see the players on the ice unedited. I've always been a guy that watches the play off the puck and you don't really get that watching every game on TV. It was a great game experience but, GM Place has got to do something about the 'Tommy Tippy Cups' they give you for beer. Ridiculous... Small and with a little sippy lid on top...the beer just foams and foams and foams as you make you way to the seat. Suggest they add cup holders to the seats, so they don't have to use these silly things. Just an outsiders throughts there.
In addition to the game, I got the chance to sit down for a beer with John & Rebecca from the Crazy Canucks. It was pretty cool to put the face and the personality with the podcast and blogs. They were trying to get some of the other 'Crazies' together, but it just didn't happen. Overall, our quick trip to Vancouver was a good one. I pumped thousands of dollars into the British Columbia economy in less than 18 hours...but at least I have my Trevor Linden sweater to wear proudly in GZ!
Back home...Tai-Tai has a big party scheduled for tonight. So, I need a fast recovery from jet lag in order to man the BBQ.
It's good to be home again.
More photo's of the game are here. And, yes, we had awesome seats.
Dude, that's awesome. Sounds like a great trip...I'm jealous!
