The Long Trip Home
I'm heading back today...blogging from the NWA Lounge (they let me in this time). Here are some randam scattered thoughts from my short visit.
- When visiting on business, the company expects an awful lot out of your during your short stay. That's OK...no whining here...I always prepare myself for that eventuality. This year, I did it one better by carving out an afternoon to golf. When people kept piling on more meetings, I just had to tell them that my schedule was full (check Outlook) and I was out in the afternoon. Worked like a charm.
- Golf, on the other hand, didn't work out that well. We were prepared to play golf, but not endure any sort of inclement weather. At the fourth hole the rain started to fall...we finished the fifth in a driving rain, and then decided to head to number nine and pack it in. But, as they say...any day golfing is better than any bad day.
- Culture Shock 101: $3.25 for regular gas. $20.00 for a beer, gyros and salad at the pub. Yeesh...
- As soon as I got back to the hotel after dinner last night, I flipped on the TV to watch the final seconds of the 3rd period of the Canucks v Columbus game on TV...into OT it went and...m'eh. I think I got to watch a full 6 minutes of action before it was done. My fault, I think.
- The internet is blazingly fast (is that a word?). Downloading podcasts...YouTube videos...updated NHL highlites...incredible. It's all there and there is no worry about proxy's or shortcuts or any of that. It is amazing what lengths I do go to keep on top of the internet at home...just to get decent news and information.
Time to step on board...be home in about 20 hours.
Nice to stumble across another Canuck expat's blog. How the heck else would I have known that Jeff Healey died?
Have a safe trip.
Kind regards,
