How many of you out there have an HP laptop? And of those of you that do...how many of you have replaced the power supply for that laptop? More than once??
The Tai-Tai has been running with an HP laptop for the past couple years. It was one of the original machines that contained Windows Vista...to my detriment. Through three re-installs of Vista, I cannot count the number of power supply cables we have had to go through with that machine.
The problem was always the same, either the cable began to sever at the connection point with the laptop, or at the junction with the transformer. One way or another, a replacement was needed to go find. Luckily, we live in the land of replacement parts and a quick trip to the computer market was all that was needed.
Literally, we stumble across a woman that sells, power cords. She's got hundreds, but, the largest stack is for the HP laptop. We buy one...and then maybe 2 months later, it breaks...so we buy another. Eventually, we ended up buying 3 or 4 at one time, because we knew it would be a problem.
Thinking it was just a problem with Chinese counterfeit parts, we eventually plunked down $80 for a real life USA replacement (as compared to the $10 ones get got here). So far, so good...but its only been 2 months. Funny thing is, the replacement we bought doesn't really fit our machine, as HP includes a 'Dongle' to adjust for the odd fitting plug-in.
Switch gears to my work laptop...yes, another HP. I am now on my second power supply and in need of another. Yes, you guessed it, cable is fraying from the transformer box.
Note to HP: You have a serious quality issue with these things...
